David “Dave” Raymond Roberts, Jr., born on November 18, 1944, in North Andover, Massachusetts, passed away on August 7, 2026. He lived a life measured by the people he loved, the traditions he cherished, and the memories he helped create.
Dave met the love of his life, Kathleen, at a baseball game in Lawrence, Massachusetts. They married in March 1964 and spent the next 62 years building a life centered on family and the traditions their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will carry forward.
To most, Dave was quiet and reserved. Unless, of course, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish or the Boston Red Sox were playing. Then the quiet gave way to passionate and colorful commentary, the kind of enthusiasm that made every big game memorable. There was never much debate about which teams the whole family would cheer for…
Dave loved history and rarely passed up a good book or movie on the subject, especially if it starred John Wayne. He enjoyed a good crossword puzzle, a cold beer, and making people laugh with his dry wit.
His knowledge of trivia, especially sports trivia, was legendary. Watching Jeopardy! together became a cherished family tradition, with his quick answers and remarkable memory keeping everyone on their toes. More often than not, he’d call out the correct response before the contestants did.
Dave dedicated more than 25 years of his career to the Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA), where he worked until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine Francis and David Raymond, Sr.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Kathleen; his children, David (Jen), Christopher (Charm), and Heather; his grandchildren, Meaghan (Raphael), Brendan (Samantha), Devan (Emily), Colin, and Aidan; and his great-grandchildren, Gabriel David, his proud namesake, Mariela, Jameson, and baby boy Sef, expected in September.
As his family navigates their grief, they will find comfort in a traditional Irish blessing:
May the road rise to meet you,May the wind be always at your back.May the sun shine warm upon your face,The rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again,May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
