David Akers, 69, of Pana, Illinois, passed away on May 20, 2026 at Rose Garden of Pana. He was born on June 29, 1956 in Springfield to Ray Akers and Joyce Aarup Akers.
He is survived by two sisters: Linda Akers of Springfield and Lorraine "Lori" Akers of Elkhart, IL., three nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Glen Akers and one sister Pamela Akers Wilson.
David had been employed by various small engine repair shops in Springfield. He enjoyed camping, boating, water skiing, swimming and fishing. He helped his Dad and brother, Glen, build several go karts as a kid growing up on a dead-end street. The go karts were the source of hours of entertainment shared with the other kids in the neighborhood.
Cremation rites were accorded.
