David Wayne Saylor

September 15, 2026 Lambton, Quebec Dignity Memorial

David Wayne Saylor of Bath, IN passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 after a hard-fought battle with esophageal cancer. David was born on February 8, 1966, in Hamilton, OH, the firstborn son of Wayne and Lou Ann Saylor. A proud band member, David graduated from Hamilton High School in 1984. After serving briefly in the military, David dedicated the majority of his career to Newport Steel, a place that helped him gain lifelong friends. In 1985, David married the love of his life, Amy (Sims) Saylor. Ten years later, the two of them welcomed their only child, Madison (Saylor) Wetzel, around whom his world revolved until the very end. To know David was to understand that he worked endless hours to make life better for his wife and daughter. If he wasn’t at Newport Steel, he was at home, mowing grass, walking pigs, cooking dinner, or something in between. On the rare occasion he was not doing those things, you could catch him fishing on Dale Hollow Lake. In his later years, David fulfilled his lifelong dream, buying his very own houseboat, which his family could barely drag him off of. David’s world changed for the best when his first granddaughter, Esther Wetzel, came into the world in 2021, followed by the arrival of his grandson, Archie Wetzel, in 2022. Watching them grow was so unbelievably special to him, and he enjoyed many days of babysitting, an activity he coined “babysitters club.” David’s unwavering love, support, and dedication to his family are what will be missed most.
