Debra Theresa Scott

September 23, 2026 Dignity Memorial

Debra “Debbie” Scott (Ng), our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on September 23, 2026, in Burbank, California.

Debbie was born on February 20, 1962, in Guyana. She spent her childhood and early teenage years in Mackenzie, some of her fondest memories were made in her family’s backyard, climbing mango trees and spending time with the people she loved. In 1979, Debbie immigrated to the United States with her parents and siblings and made Burbank her home. Family was always at the center of Debbie’s life, and she never wanted to live too far from the people she loved.

After moving to the United States, Debbie attended Burbank High School and then Glendale Community College, where she earned her Associate degree. She went on to build a remarkable 42-year career with Crane Aerospace. Debbie was an exceptionally dedicated and hardworking employee who took great pride in her work. She was dependable, loyal, and committed to everything she did.

In 1985, Debbie met the love of her life, Randy Scott. It was truly love at first sight for Randy, he knew immediately that he would one day marry Debbie. They married in November of that same year and spent 40 beautiful years together, side by side, taking on life’s challenges and celebrating its joys. Their life together was filled with love, family, laughter, adventures, and countless memories.

In 1995, Debbie and Randy welcomed the greatest joy of their lives, their daughter, Chelsey.

Debbie was an extraordinary mother who devoted herself wholeheartedly to her daughter. She was there for every game, every event, and every milestone, always cheering the loudest from the bleachers. She was Chelsey’s biggest supporter and proudest mother, watching with immense joy as her daughter grew into the accomplished woman she is today. No matter what Chelsey was doing, Debbie was there, supporting her, encouraging her, and making sure she always knew just how proud her mom was.

Beyond her family, Debbie found happiness in the simple things in life. She loved going on weekend getaways with her husband, watching cooking shows, cheering for the Lakers, and watching her favorite movie, Mamma Mia! She truly was a dancing queen.

On weekends, Debbie and Randy enjoyed getting in the car and exploring Southern California, often with no particular destination in mind. Sometimes the destination didn’t matter at all. It was simply about being together, enjoying the drive, and seeing where the day would take them.

Hawaii held a special place in Debbie’s heart and was her favorite vacation destination. The family made many memorable trips there, enjoying time together, relaxing, and making memories. Debbie especially loved sitting on the beach, soaking up the sunshine, and sipping a piña colada.

Debbie was also a huge Disney fan. She loved visiting the parks and collecting Disney memorabilia from her many trips, filling her home with souvenirs and memories. One of her favorite Disney destinations was Aulani in Hawaii, bringing together two of her favorite things.

But more than anything, Debbie’s greatest joy was the people she loved.

Debbie was one of the most selfless people you could ever meet. She was always willing to go above and beyond for her loved ones and never expected anything in return. She truly did not have a bad bone in her body. Debbie naturally looked for the good in people and situations and always tried to see the best in everyone.

She was a devoted sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, and one of the biggest cheerleaders and supporters of everyone around her. She celebrated the accomplishments of her siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends as though they were her own. She was always ready with encouragement, a kind word, a helping hand, or simply her calming presence when someone needed her.

That was Debbie. She loved people wholeheartedly, gave generously, and made those around her feel supported and cared for.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Randy; her daughter, Chelsey; her sister, Sonya, and her husband, Brian; her brother, Marlon, and his wife, Michelle; her sister, Sharon, and her husband, Jesus; and her beloved nieces and nephews, Chris, Tim, Chad, Mary Myrtle Marie, Charlie, Marlon Jr., Mark, Shaila, Matthew, Michelle, Madison, and Mallory. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Conrad and Marie.

Debbie leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories. She leaves behind the countless little moments that her family and friends will hold onto forever—the sound of her laugh, her encouragement from the sidelines, the adventures with Randy, the pride she had for Chelsey, the joy she found in the simple things in life, and the love she so freely gave to everyone around her.

Her family and friends will forever remember Debbie for her generous heart, unwavering support, dedication, kindness, and the joy she brought into their lives. She may no longer be here beside us, but the love she gave us will remain with us always.

A memorial service will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Burbank on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 9:30 AM, with a reception immediately following at Castaway Burbank.

Randy and Chelsey would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all of their family and friends for the love, prayers, kindness, and support they have shown during this difficult time. Every message, phone call, visit, prayer, and expression of love has meant more than words can say.
