Born on April 7, 1962, in Sioux City, Iowa, Deirdre was the youngest daughter of Ralph Eugene (Gene) and Ingrid Luise Boswell. Growing up as a proud Air Force brat, she lived a significant amount of time in Roy, Utah, while her father was stationed at Hill Air Force Base. Her family later relocated to El Paso, Texas, in 1975, where she graduated from high school in 1980. Following graduation, Deirdre moved to Houston, Texas, which became her home for the next 30 years. She took great pride in her career as an Executive Assistant at Hewlett Packard (HP), serving dedicatedly until 2004, when spinal surgery required her to take a medical disability leave. Following her leave, she relocated back to El Paso, Texas, and later moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico, to be near her mother and sister.
Deirdre was a woman of deep passions and vibrant interests. She was a lifelong music enthusiast, meticulously building an extensive collection of records, tapes, and CDs across her lifetime. An ultimate movie lover and TV buff, she found immense joy in her favorite stories and shows. Above all, Deirdre was a passionate dog lover. She carried a deep affection for her late canine companions, Darlin, Dakota, and Darby, who held a very special place in her heart. At the time of her passing, her home was filled with the joy of her 11-month-old rescued puppy, also named Darlin, who had become the absolute love and joy of her life.
Deirdre is survived by her loving sister and brother-in-law, LeeAnn and Eddie Nichols of Tularosa, New Mexico; her cherished niece, Kailey Piper, and her husband Paxton of Illinois, along with their children, Haven, Oakleigh, Hunter, and Mabel. She is also survived by her uncle and aunt, Gerald Anthony "Tony" and Mary Boswell of Texas; her cousins, Beth Ann Sullivan of California and Colleen Ealey of Minnesota; and her life-long best friend, Dorcas J. Mora of El Paso, Texas, alongside many step nieces, and friends whose lives she brightened.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Gene and Ingrid Boswell; her brother, Ralph Michael Boswell; her paternal grandparents, Ralph E. Boswell Sr. and Margaret Lillian Boswell; and Hildegard Voith “Oma”, and her cousin, Patricia Boswell of Minnesota.
No formal services will be held. Instead, the family requests that those who knew and loved Deirdre join them in a coordinated moment of silence to honor her memory. This collective pause will take place on September 8, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. (MDT) for anyone who is so inclined to participate.
