Edward Leon Sims

Edward Leon Sims, age 78, passed away on Friday, May 08, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on December 22, 1947, in San Angelo, Texas to parents, Mildred Darnell Tomlison and Robert Andrew Sims.

He married Kathleen Sims in 1969, beginning a lifelong partnership built on loyalty, hard work, and unwavering dedication to family. Their years together were filled with perseverance, shared memories, and the quiet strength that carried them through life’s many seasons.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he served honorably during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Perkins. His service reflected the courage, discipline, and resilience that would continue to define him throughout his life.

After his time in the Navy, Edward devoted more than 50 years to life on the road as a truck driver, hauling countless types of loads for several transportation companies over the decades. He took tremendous pride in his work and was known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and deep respect for the trucking profession. His truck was more than transportation — it was a reflection of who he was. He kept it meticulously maintained and cared for every detail with pride and precision.

Gifted with a natural understanding of machinery, he could fix nearly anything he set his mind to. Friends and family often turned to him for help with repairs, projects, and practical advice. Whether tinkering in the garage or taking on a new DIY challenge, he found satisfaction in working with his hands and solving problems others could not.

When it was time to relax, he enjoyed trips to the casino, especially spending time at the slot machines and trying his luck with scratch-off tickets.

Edward will be remembered for his steady presence, hardworking spirit, mechanical skill, and devotion to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the memories of the roads he traveled, the lives he touched, and the family who loved him dearly.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Edward was preceded in death by wife, Kathleen Sims; and parents. He is survived by his sons, Eddie Sims (Jenevy) and Mitch Sims (Kelly); daughters, Holly Garcia (Chris) and Michelle Williams (Ron); 11 grandchildren, Jalene Castro (David), Jordan Walker (Chris), Justine Sims and Jake Sims (Madi), William Lee Blakey III (Maddie), Shea Nixon (Josh); Brittany Winston, Austin Kainoa, Kaelyn Sims, Cory Garcia (Claire) and Chesnei Garcia (Ethan); and 18 great-grandchildren.
