Emma Guerra

With heavy hearts, but faith in God's eternal promise, we announce the passing of Emma Guerra, who went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2026 at the age of 88 years. She was born on July 17, 1937 in El Paso, Texas to parents Andres and Valentina Portillo.

Emma lived a life grounded in faith, love, compassion and devotion to family. She worked as a religious educator for many years, served in several church ministries and volunteered in a medical mission trip several years ago. She loved to sew, cook, sing, read, journal and travel. As a loving mother, grandmother and faithful servant of God she touched countless lives with her kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit. Her home was always filled with warmth, prayer, laughter and abundant love.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jose Lorenzo Guerra, and is survived by her siblings: Oscar Portillo and Martha Perez.

She leaves behind cherished memories with her loving children:Diane Madalene Baray and spouse Arturo Antonio Baray, Nora Irene Maldonado and Rene Maldonado (deceased), James Guerra and Norma Guerra Miranda, Martha Denise Guerra, Andrew Guerra and spouse Rachel Tirres Guerra.

Grandchildren:Rachel Olivia Baray, Arthur Mitchell Baray and spouse Rebekah Maria Baray, Valerie Ilene Bustamante and spouse Edgar Bustamante, Victoria Lee Guerra, Violet Marie Maldonado, David Vincent Maldonado, Vanae Lorraine Solis and spouse Anthony Angel Solis, Bryanna Lauren Guerra, Hannah Brooke Guerra, James Bryant Guerra, Emily Siena Gracia, Adam Valentin Gracia, Madeline Ariel Gracia, Joseph Andrew Guerra, Jeremy Ray Guerra, and Jacqueline Carys Guerra.

Great-grandchildren:Nathaniel Lee Baray, Elijah Jayden Guerra, Isaiah Joel Guerra, Aaliyah Lanai Guerra, Lilah Alinah Guerra, Ivy Guerra, Ian Guerra, Aizen Guerra, Anthony Ezra Aviel Solis, Azekiel Eriah Angel Solis, Asiah Ezri Valentino Solis.

Though our hearts mourn this earthly loss, we rejoice knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord and reunited with loved ones who passed before her.
