She was a dressmaker, a gardener, and so much more. But no title meant as much to her as Mom and Wife.
Erlinda Siongco Go, 91, passed away at her home on September 27, 2026. She was born on February 28, 1935, in Bocaue, Bulacan, Philippines, to the late Jose M. Siongco and Maria San Gabriel. She was the fifth of ten children, six girls and four boys, and the last of her siblings to leave us.
She and her late husband, Benjamin R. Go, a U.S. Navy man, immigrated to the United States in 1965, never forgetting where they came from but embracing the new life they were building. They formed a strong community of family and friends up and down the East Coast, in Maryland, Rhode Island, Washington, D.C., and other parts of Virginia, before happily putting down roots in Virginia Beach in 1977. There they bought their first brand-new model home together, one that is still in the family today, and filled with countless reminders of holiday gatherings, home-cooked meals, and raising a family, steeped in Filipino culture and heritage.
To all who met her, Erlinda was beloved for her warmth and good-natured humor. She was also known for her constancy, showing up with the dignity of someone who understood the value of hard work. Grit and a strong will made her the person she was, and always will be, in our hearts and our memories.
Now reunited with her darling husband, Erlinda is survived by her sons, Edgar S. Go and Benjamin S. Go, Jr. (Maggie Wolfram); and her daughter Belinda S. Go.
