Esther was born in Serath to Martin and Lily Gellner - the 3rd of nine children. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda O'Donnell; son, Warren McAfee; granddaughter, Faye Forrest (Darryl Wortham); great-grandchildren, Carter and Matthew and their mother Heather O'Donnell; and two sisters, Rosalyn Johnston and Dian Klein (Bill) along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Esther married Ross McAfee on July 2, 1949 and moved into a brand new home in Quinton where they raised their children, later moving to Punnichy then upon retirement to Regina. During their 46 years together they enjoyed ball games, golfing, curling, card parties and Sunday afternoon car rides and dancing. Watching them dance together was a pleasure. She was a self taught seamstress, sewed her way through 3 sewing machines in her lifetime - wore them right out!. In later years she turned her skills from sewing clothes to quilting and crocheting. She was an industrious worker and gifted many people with her quilts and afghans; including hundreds which were made for people in need.
After Esther was widowed she moved to Benson Manor, as one of the original owners she enjoyed many years and strong friendships as the residents went about the business of building their community. She was a lady, polite, considerate and genuinely interested in others. When Mom's health began to fade she moved to Wintergreen where she was very well taken care of. We would like to extend a special thank you to Cindy Wolk, her niece who was her frequent companion during the past year.
