At the Maison des Aînés de Sherbrooke, on August 24, 2026, at the age of 103 years, Mrs. Gisèle Hamel, wife of the late Léo Bisson, daughter of the late Louise Demers and Adélard Hamel, passed away. She resided in Sherbrooke.
Mrs. Hamel leaves behind her children: Claude (Pauline Francis), Lise (Claude Bolduc), Nicole (Daniel Guay), Guy (Colette Dion), Pierre (Ginette Proulx), Louise (deceased Gaston Roy), Denis (Carolle Brochu), Diane (Michel Ruel); as well as 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was the last survivor of the Hamel-Morin family and the last sister-in-law of the Bisson family.
She also leaves many nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
The family wishes to thank all the staff of the Maison des Aînés for the good care given to Mrs. Hamel.
The family will be present at the Coopérative funéraire de l’Estrie (485, rue du 24-Juin, Sherbrooke) on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM to receive condolences, with a farewell ceremony following at 2:00 PM at the same location. It will also be possible to attend virtually by clicking on the 'Live broadcast' button.
The ashes will be deposited in the family lot at the St-Philippe Cemetery in Windsor at a later date.
