Henrietta Antoinette DuMortier

Henrietta A. DuMortier, 85, joined the angels on May 30, 2026, after a long illness.

She was born Henrietta Ulanowski on November 3, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the oldest of three siblings, Ed Ulanowski and Joseph Ulanowski, and the daughter of Henry and Mary Ulanowski. After graduating from St. Hubert's Catholic School for Girls in Philadelphia, she attended Northeast Philadelphia Nursing School, where she became a Registered Nurse.

She met her husband, Paul DuMortier, in 1962, and they were married in September 1963. They lived in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, while she worked at Northeast Hospital in Philadelphia and Paul worked at Campbell Soup Company in Trenton, New Jersey. They had two children together, John Paul and Andre.

In 1972, they moved to Canajoharie, New York. She worked for a few years as an RN at Palatine Nursing Home and, in 1980, became the school nurse at Fort Plain High School. In 1990, the family moved to St. SImons Island, Georgia. She became a school nurse at Glyndale Elementary School, where she worked until 1995.

While living in New York, she was very active in the Tri-Valley Cerebral Palsy Association, serving as its president for many years.

She was a very strong advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities, especially those with Down syndrome. She was active in various hobbies, including needlepoint, arts and crafts, calligraphy, cake decorating, and sewing. She loved camping with family and friends, playing tennis, and raising her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, and her son, John Paul.

Survivors include her son, Andre; stepson, Michael Mullholland; and four grandchildren, Peyton, Paige, Grace, and Annelise.

In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made to the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS).
