Hollis Edward Flora was born on February 18, 1933, in Covington, Ohio to Cornelius J. and Pauline Flora, the oldest of a second set of 8 siblings with six older half-siblings. He married Charlotte Dutter from Modesto, California, on September 25, 1959. They lived in various places including Stelvideo, Ohio, Bartonia, Indiana, Horatio, Ohio, and Greenville, Ohio, where they remained until moving to Goshen, Indiana in 2019. Hollis was baptized into Jesus Christ in 1953 and served in various church ministries, including being an elder. He was also known for writing poetry and studying history. Hollis was supported by his family including his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He passed away on August 27, 2026, at the age of 93 years, 6 months, and 9 days.
