It is with heavy hearts that the family of Janice Johnson of Port St. Lucie, FL announce her passing on August 19, 2026, just 2 days after celebrating her 80th birthday. Born in Waterbury, CT to the late Edward and Betty Mae (Hill) Duffy, Janice lived much of her life in Northfield and Goshen, CT, before later making her home in Port St. Lucie with the love of her life, her husband Bob.
Janice dedicated her life to caring for others as a nurse, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she also proudly served the town of Litchfield, CT as its Tax Collector, where her diligence and dedication to her community were well known. She was a member of the Northfield Fire Company Auxiliary, the Women’s Literary Club, leader of Girl Scouts, coach of many youth softball teams, and provider of cookies to her kids’ friends.
Janice was preceded in death 11 months ago by her beloved husband of 58 years, Robert Johnson; her son, Jeffrey Johnson; and her grandson, Dylan Johnson. The family is comforted knowing that Jan has been reunited with those that she missed so dearly.
She is survived by her daughter, Jill, and son-in-law, Charles Beaudoin of Northfield, AFS Daughter Carmen Barra and her husband Sergio Castro of Chile; her grandchildren, Robert (Geena) and Louis Bongiolatti, Tyler and Makayla Beaudoin, Rosario and Roberto Castro; and her great-grandsons, Jack Johnson and Theodore Bongiolatti; brothers James (Barbara) Duffy and Thomas (Jean) Duffy, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.
Janice will be remembered for her compassion, her strength, and her lifelong commitment to helping and loving others. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion to her family and community.
A celebration of life will be held in Northfield, CT in the Spring of 2027.
