Jason Craig Monroe

May 30, 2026 Alma, Quebec Dignity Memorial

Jason Craig “Jake” Monroe was born November 25th, 1974, in Friona, TX. He graduated from Randall High School in Amarillo and went on to attend Sul Ross State University.

Survivors include his sons Kage Monroe, Nixon Monroe, and sister Tami Monroe Cook, and brother-in-law Brian Cook. He was preceded in death by his mom, Kerry Hall Marnell, and dad Jimmy Wayne Monroe.

Jake grew up in the cattle industry and began his adult career working in agriculture. That paralleled his love for team roping, which was a big part of his life. He was also known to grab a dusty golf bag from the bed of his pickup and pretend his golf game was as good as the stories he told of it. Behind his bigger-than-life persona, Jake had a tender heart, evidenced by his love for his sons, his Gmo, and any pup he befriended that got treated like royalty. Always with a story to tell, Jake had a presence felt by everyone. His big smile and quick wit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
