John Joe Bain

John Joe Bain, 82, was born on September 22, 1944, to Helen Lois Clement Ader and Jack Wilson Bain.

John grew up in Alexandria, Virginia, graduating from George Mason Elementary High School, Jefferson Junior High, and George Washington High School. After further studies at George Mason College, Northern Virginia Community College, and serving in the U. S. Navy, he finally learned that Staunton was a great place to live. Moving to Staunton in 1980, he served seven years as Staunton’s Animal Warden and seven years as a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier.

He married Becky in 1991 and enjoyed many more years with her, traveling the U.S.A. and spending many winters in Florida. He remembered fondly his oldest sister, Nancy Rebecca Bain, and younger brother, Clement, but sadly, he eventually found himself writing obituaries for both of them.

John is survived by his wife Rebecca S. Bain; his stepson, West J. Prein; his children, John J. “Jake” Prein (Lauren) and Hayden S. Prein; two nieces, Rebecca T. Shomo (Alan) and Keron Ader Thornett; great-nieces, Jennifer, Ader Bain Hutchinson, Heather; great-nephew Nicholas; two great-great-nieces and two great-great-nephews.

A Celebration of Life is planned for a later time.
