Jose Antonio Cabrera

July 22, 2026 Alma, Quebec Dignity Memorial

Jose Antonio Cabrera was born on July 12, 1935, in Bejucal, Havana, Cuba. He passed away leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and quiet strength.

On October 14, 1961, Jose married the love of his life, Maria Luisa Ordoñez (Mari). Together they built a life centered on love and family, welcoming their daughter, Maria de la Caridad.

In 1967, Jose, Mari, and their young daughter immigrated to the United States in search of new opportunities and a brighter future. They first settled in Connecticut, where Jose worked as an apartment building superintendent. In 1977 the family moved to New York to be closer to family. In 1987, the family relocated to Tampa, Florida, where Jose continued his career in building maintenance for office buildings. Known for his reliability, dedication, and strong work ethic, Jose took great pride in his work until his retirement in 2001, when his new title was to be a devoted “Buelo”.

Jose and Mari shared 52 wonderful years of marriage until her sudden passing in 2013. Though he deeply missed her, he continued to cherish the family they had built together and the memories they shared.

Above all else, Jose was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his loving daughter, Maria de la Caridad; his son-in-law, Richard; and his beloved grandson, Joe, who brought him immense joy and pride. He is also survived by his cherished niece and nephew, Juana and Benny, their spouses, Paul and Milena, his great-nephews Benny, Louis, and Peter, as well as his extended family in Cuba, all of whom will remember him with love and affection.

Jose will be remembered for his perseverance, humility, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his family. His life was one of sacrifice, resilience, and love, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved Mari.
