Jose Luis Flores

June 27, 2026 Cowansville, Quebec Dignity Memorial

Jose Luis Flores went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 8:20 p.m., surrounded by family. He was 73 years old.

Jose Luis proudly served in the United States Army with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment as a truck mechanic, receiving his honorable discharge on May 21, 1974. He carried the discipline and dedication from his military service into every part of his life that followed.

Jose Luis dedicated his career to education, spending 28 years as a teacher and coach at Brownsville and Los Fresnos School districts. Generations of students knew him not only as an educator but as a mentor who shaped their character on and off the field. His commitment to his students left a lasting legacy in both communities.

Jose Luis was an avid hunter and fisherman, always happiest outdoors with a rod in his hand or out on a hunt. After he and his wife Margarita both retired, the two of them traveled the world together, making memories across countless destinations. No matter where their travels took them, Jose Luis always made time to enjoy his favorite pastime — playing the slot machines.

Above all, Jose Luis loved to share. Whenever he had extra fish or deer meat, he would host a fish fry or cook up a batch of his deer guisado, gathering family and friends together over a good meal. It’s how many will remember him best — generous, warm, and always ready to feed the people he loved.

Jose Luis loved to laugh and loved to make others laugh. He had a way of bringing joy and happiness wherever he went, and his sense of humor will be one of the things his family and friends miss the most.
