Joseph Thomas Stepp, MD, age 75, passed away on May 6, 2026, in Jacksonville, FL. He was born to Mary Margaret and Everett Stepp on August 3, 1950, in Bluefield, WV.
Joe graduated from Englewood High School in 1968 before completing both his undergraduate degree (1971) and medical degree (1975) at the University of Florida. After serving as Chief Resident at University Hospital in Jacksonville, he spent 38 years caring for patients at Internal Medical Group, specializing in geriatric medicine. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, neighbor, physician, and man of faith. Outside of medicine, he was an avid golfer, a reader, a lifelong learner, and a competitive Scrabble player. He loved to travel, support the UF Gators, and was actively involved in Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church for 45 years.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends. A celebration of life was held at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church on May 18, 2026.
