Kim Gilbert Wilkes, age 56, peacefully passed away on Monday July 6, 2026 and entered her eternal home surrounded by the love of her family and the promises of her faith in Jesus Christ. A devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, teacher, and friend, Kim lived a life marked by kindness, laughter, compassion, and unwavering love for others.
Funeral Services for Kim will be held on Friday July 10 at 2:00 PM at McEachern Memorial United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00PM to the hour of the service.
Kim was a dedicated school teacher where she touched the lives of countless students and coworkers with her gentle spirit, patience, and genuine passion for teaching. Later, she chose to spend 11 treasured years at home raising her children, a role she considered one of the greatest blessings of her life. Kim loved deeply and intentionally. Her family was the center of her world. Kim found joy in being present for the people who mattered most. She had a heart for kindness and forgiveness and quietly taught those lessons through the way she lived.
Above all, Kim loved Jesus. Her faith carried her through every season of life, and she often spoke of how God had been beside her through every trial, joy, and answered prayer. Her family takes comfort knowing she is now fully healed and reunited with so many she loved dearly.
Kim is survived by her loving husband, Ashley Wilkes; her beloved children, Madison Knowles (26), Matthew Wilkes (22), and Maggie Wilkes (20); her brother, Kyle Gilbert; and her father, Howard Gilbert. She also leaves behind countless extended family members, dear friends, former students, coworkers, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her. Kim's legacy is one of faith, love, kindness, humor, and selflessness. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
