Kimberly LaTrell Smith passed peacefully May 13, 2026, at the Village at Carrol Park in Grandview MO.
She was born May 21st, 1962, in Albany Georgia. She grew up in Goose Creek, South Carolina where she graduated high school. Shortly afterwards, Kim joined the Navy, and she became a corpsman x-ray technician.
Kim had her first son in 1982 and raised him by herself until 1992, where she met and fell in love with her soon to be husband, Jim. They married later that year and had two more children. In 2016, Kim and Jim adopted a child. Three of the four children were developmentally delayed and are involved in Missouri Special Olympics.
Kim is survived by her husband Jim, four children, Chris, Alyssa, Brittany, and Michael, and three grandchildren, Kobe, Kadence, and Trent.
Visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131, on June 5, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am.
