It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Koko Dalalian, who peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., at the age of 86, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Annie Khajoyan Dalalian; his cherished daughters, Lory, Houry, and Nelly; his sons-in-law; his adored grandchildren and their spouses and fiancés; his precious great-grandchildren; his dear sister, Shoghig Magarian; and his brother, Zohrab Dalalian, along with many beloved relatives and friends whose lives he touched.

Koko was a man full of life, warmth, and character, whose presence brought joy and laughter to those around him. A passionate Montreal Canadiens fan, he followed all kinds of sports and knew the teams, players, and games inside out. He enjoyed playing chess, blot, backgammon, and pool. An avid reader with a remarkable knowledge of history and current affairs, he loved a good debate, especially when he could win the argument!

Proud of his Armenian heritage, language, culture, and Christian faith, Koko was a man of dignity and strong convictions. He was never afraid to speak his mind or stand up for what he believed was right. Whether among family or at large gatherings, he loved sharing his opinions, engaging in lively discussions, and making his voice heard.

Koko had an undeniable sweet tooth! He could easily skip a meal for a plate of desserts, especially his beloved pakhlava. He knew how to enjoy life’s simple pleasures and lived each day to the fullest. Generous at heart, he gave freely of what he had, always willing to share with others. He lived one day at a time, trusting that God would always provide. And somehow, no matter how much he gave, he never found himself in need.

One of Koko’s greatest joys was being Santa Claus every Christmas and New Year. As early as October, he would start growing his beard, already looking forward to the Christmas season and imagining all the places he would visit and the children he would surprise. He loved making children believe he was the real Santa Claus, straight from the North Pole. And whenever they doubted him, he would proudly say, “Pull on my beard!” That was his proof!

Year after year, he would visit Armenian churches, schools, daycares, retirement homes, and private gatherings, handing out gifts and bringing joy wherever he went. He looked forward to it so much that it was almost like his calling in life.

What made Koko special was that he never made distinctions between Armenian communities or church denominations. His love for the Armenian people was greater than any differences. As long as he heard Armenian being spoken, he was happy. It didn’t matter where people came from or which church they belonged to. To him, they were all his people.

Koko will be remembered for his kindness, his joyful spirit, his devotion to family, and his remarkable ability to bring people together. Loved by so many, he leaves behind a beautiful legacy of generosity, laughter, and treasured memories.

His presence will be deeply missed, but the joy he brought into the lives of others will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

May he rest in eternal peace.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in loving memory of Koko Dalalian to the Première Église Évangélique Arménienne https://hayavedmontreal.com/donations-page
