Larry David Rosenbaum, 89, passed away on September 29, 2026, in Plantation, Florida, surrounded in his last days by the family he loved so deeply. He was born on November 5, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Meyer and Ethel Rosenbaum, and grew up there as the middle of three sons.

The son of Jewish immigrants and a first-generation American, Larry dreamed of becoming a doctor from the time he was a boy. He graduated at the top of his class from Walnut Hills High School and worked his way through undergraduate studies, graduate school, and medical school at the University of Cincinnati, spending his summers selling magazine subscriptions door to door to pay his way. That determination and work ethic stayed with him all his life, and he passed them on to everyone who learned from his example.

It was at Cincinnati's Jewish Hospital that he first saw Regina Kornblum, a nursing student, in the hospital cafeteria. Smitten, he cut the line to meet her, and three months later he asked her to marry him. They married in Cincinnati and together raised four children during their 34 years of marriage. Drafted into the U.S. Air Force, Larry served as a captain and base physician at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia during the Vietnam War. He later settled in Hollywood, Florida, and later Davie, Florida where he raised his family.

Larry had a warm, boisterous personality and was wonderfully expressive with his love. Everyone he loved knew exactly how much he loved them, because he told them every chance he got. He found great joy in singing, music, and boxing, and he loved to see the world, sharing his travels with his family and teaching his children to appreciate other cultures and to meet people with empathy, understanding, and kindness. Health was a cornerstone of his life, and he encouraged everyone he loved to embrace their own: to eat well, exercise, and stay strong. Deeply dedicated to caring for others, he spent his life in service as an orthopedic surgeon and worked tirelessly to give his family a good life. Above all, his greatest joy was his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his four children, Aaron Max Liu-Rosenbaum of Quebec, Canada; Debra Chia (Peter) Salas of Tampa, Florida; Tamara Esther Ellis (David) of Miami, Florida; and Jesse Meyer Rosenbaum of Gainesville, Virginia; and by his eight grandchildren, Sarah, Samantha, Demitri Weyne-Ellis, Aidan, Jonathan, Nicholas, Aliya, and Delilah. He is also survived by Regina Rosenbaum, the mother of his children. He was predeceased by his parents, Meyer and Ethel Rosenbaum, and his brothers, Victor and Ray.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at Lakeside Memorial Park in Miami, Florida.

May his memory be a blessing.
