The beloved matriarch of her family and the heart of her home passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on July 16, 2026, in Jacksonville, FL. Born on January 18, 1936, in Fort Worth, Texas, Annette was a bold, fearless, and loving light in the lives of everyone who knew her.
She was married to the love of her life, Roy Harold Lloyd “Buddy”/“Pawpaw”, until his passing in 2006. Together, they created a loving home and raised their four children: Cindy, Mark, Mike, and Kevin. Not only was Annette a devoted wife and mother, but she was also one hell of a grandmother and great-grandmother! She had four children, ten grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren, each carrying forward her strong spirit of resilience and love.
A passionate genealogist, Annette took immense pride in her family’s rich history, with proud roots in Texas, Colorado, Louisiana, and Jacksonville. She lovingly and meticulously preserved old, cherished family photographs and documents from both her and Buddy’s families, with each image telling a story from generations past. Her dedication to her family tree was evident; she knew the unique tales of each member, celebrating their contributions to the family’s legacy.
The family property in Springfield, Louisiana, was particularly dear to her heart, serving as a cherished gathering place where Buddy was raised and where they created countless memories. She loved to bring her grandchildren there, instilling in them a deep appreciation for their roots and the importance of family.
Though she faced the heartache of losing her husband Buddy, her son Mark, her sister Bernadine, and some of her beloved grandchildren far too soon, her fierce love and nurturing spirit shone brightly through it all. Annette’s unwavering dedication to her family and her country will forever resonate in the hearts of those who loved her.
Her legacy is one of love, devotion, and the unbreakable bond of family. Mawmaw will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who carry her memory.
In honor of her life, the family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Annette’s remarkable journey and the love she shared.
There will be a graveside service at Oaklawn Cemetery on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10 AM, followed by a reception with light bites, refreshments, and fellowship at Destination Church (88 Arlington Rd N, Jacksonville, FL 32211).
