Peacefully in her ninety third year on Friday May 1, 2026. Devoted wife of the late Nathan Schertzer for seventy years. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Stephen Schertzer and Ruth Wingerin, Robert Schertzer and Laura Rosenthal. Cherished Bubbie of Julia Schertzer and Skyler Olson, Adam, and Leora Schertzer; Dena Schertzer and fiancé Roman Babichev, and Daniel Schertzer. Proud great-grandmother of Lev Olson. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Martin and Pearl Berman, Doris and the late Daniel Fink ; and sister-in-law of Joei Carlton and the late Paul Hossack, the late Mona and the late Marvin Mesirow, the late Harry Schertzer and the late Sandra Albert

Laura will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, family and friends. Heartfelt gratitude to Bibi Rafina and Ali Ali for their care and compassion. Special thanks to the staff of 6 North Donald Berman Maimonides Geriatric Centre.

Funeral service at Paperman and Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Monday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m. Burial at the Dorshei Emet Reconstructionist Congregation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield. Shiva at the Séville Room, Ruby Foo’s Hotel, 7655 Blvd Décarie, on Monday, May 4 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., Martin will be continuing shiva Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at his home in Chomedey. Stephen and Robert will be continuing shiva in Vancouver at Stephen and Ruth’s home - dates and times to follow.
