Lavaye Tew Steed, age 93, passed away peacefully in her home on August 14, 2026.She was born in Neshoba County, MS on May 13, 1933 to Luther and Clarsey Comans Tew.She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her hobbies were gardening, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.She was a retired nurse that was very proud of her career at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.She leaves behind her son, Dennis; daughter, Susan; grandsons, Lesley and Dennis (Stephanie); granddaughter, Daphne (Douglas); great-grandsons, Taylor (Sophia), Brandon (Paige), Connor, Coleson, and Easton; great-granddaughters, Abbey (Caleb), Chloe (Christian), and Caitlyn; great-great-granddaughter, Margot; great-great-grandsons, Archie and Wyatt; as well as many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edison Eugene Steed; her son, Edison Eugene Steed, Jr. (Nancy); and her siblings, Emmett, Jackie, and Ruthie.She will be cremated and laid to rest aside her husband, parents, and family at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, located in Pearl, MS.
