Lee was born on March 5, 1923 in Port Arthur, Texas, to Sabeh and Bessie Murr, two Lebanese immigrants who came to this country through Ellis Island in the 1800’s.  He attended Port Arthur schools, graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in Spring,1941, then attended Texas A&M College (now University) where he was a member of ROTC and studied chemical engineering until he left school to join the Army at the end of his sophomore year.

Lee was a WWII veteran who served in the 89th Infantry Division Artillery Unit throughout Europe under the command of General George S. Patton.  After the War, he returned home to Port Arthur to resume his civilian life after completing his service.  He subsequently moved to Houston, worked for the City of Houston, and then joined Tennessee Gas & Pipeline as a land man, where he met his future bride, Dorothy.

Lee and Dorothy married in 1957, settled in Bellaire, Texas, and welcomed two children, Michael and Lynda.  Lee was a devoted family man, and a lifetime member of St. George Orthodox Christian Church, where he served on the Parish Council and as Treasurer.  After a 35 year career with TG&P, Lee retired to a long and happy retirement, enjoying his favorite hobbies, woodworking, fishing and spending time with his family.

A loving thank you goes to Lee’s caregivers, Sherry Boman, Cheryl Butler Walker, Regina Jones and Obed Onyenze, who provided constant, heartfelt care to Lee as if he were their own, during the last years of his life.
