Peacefully, on August 10th, 2026, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Husband and best friend of Elena Rif, Leonid was an incredible husband and a gentle soul who cared for others. He was a “person of light” (roughly translated from Russian). He will be missed terribly by Elena as well as his cousins Leora and Cody Stipelman, Dr. Perle Feldman, Sandra and Ian Baker-Gregory and Clara Halasz, and other relatives. He will also be missed by their close circle of friends Maria Montesano-Ricci and Marco Ricci, Nina Sigalova and Michael Kirgizov, Olga Karakozova, Maria Pitacciato, Mark Lokshin, Anna Tasse, Angelina Amato, and other friends. Finally, Leonid worked at Federation CJA for 33 years and will be missed by his coworkers who consider him both friend and family. Thank you to the wonderful caring staff of the Hematology/Oncology care unit at the Jewish General Hospital, Dr. Paul Warshawsky and residents, nurses, and orderlies of the Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit of the Jewish General Hospital for their amazing care and understanding.
