Lewis “Ballard” Beverly Sr., of Ameagle, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on September 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family following a long and courageous medical battle.
Ballard was a retired coal miner who took great pride in his work and in providing for his family. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished the time he spent with the people he loved. His family was the center of his world, and his love and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ballard was a lifelong West Virginia Mountaineers and Atlanta Braves fan. He enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams and spending his free time gardening, fishing, and riding his lawn mower. He found joy in the simple things in life—being outdoors, tending to his garden, casting a line, and most of all, being surrounded by family.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia “Patty” Beverly; his daughter, Paula Evans of Artie, WV; and his son, Lewis Beverly Jr. and his wife, Candice, of Beckley; his sister, Judy Jenkins of Charlottesville, VA; and his brother, Ronnie Beverly and his wife, Kathy, of Whitesville, WV
He will be lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren: Logan Evans and his wife, Ashley, of Beckley; Kirsten Bradshaw and her husband, Shawn, of Glen Daniel; Kayla Burgess and her husband, Travis, of Beckley; Derek Stokes and his wife, Kendal, of Daniels; Daniel Evans of Artie; Chase Stokes of Mt. Hope and his girlfriend, Brittney; and Christian Beverly of Beckley; as well as eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Ballard leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, family, and memories that will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the arms of the Lord.
