Lois Marie Denney, 71, of Bothell, Washington, went to be with the lord on May 17, 2026, peacefully in her sleep.
Lois was born on June 24, 1954, in Tacoma, Washington, and was later adopted by Paul and Loretta Musgrave. She grew up in Shoreline, Washington, and graduated from Shorecrest High School in 1972. Growing up, she was involved in tennis, band, playing the flute and piano, was the first 4-star GMG (Girls' Missionary Guild) at Haller Lake, and was active in her bowling league. She later earned her associate's degree in applied arts and sciences from Shoreline Community College in 1974. Throughout her career, Lois held various roles, including positions at the University of Washington and the American Plywood Association, and her final position at Boeing.
Lois married Steven Roy Denney in 1979, and together they bought a home in Bothell, Washington, and raised their two children, Michelle and Adam. She built her life in her home, raising her children. Her children were her life, and she centered her life around being present for them. She later started working as a paraeducator so she could be at home more with her children. In 2018, she retired from Cedarwood Elementary School. She touched the lives of so many children over the years and truly loved her job.
Her greatest joy was her grandchildren. After retirement, she spent countless hours volunteering at their schools and in their classrooms. She even continued to substitute work at Penny Creek Elementary. Anyone who knew Lois knew she was a selfless person. She would do anything for anyone. She loved people and took the time to know every detail. She went out of her way to talk to anyone. Her faith was also a cornerstone of her life. Lois faithfully attended church and was actively involved in many ministries and groups throughout the years. Her love for God guided how she cared for others and how she lived each day.Lois is survived by her husband, Steve Denney; her daughter, Michelle Killingstad, and son-in-law, Chris Killingstad; her son, Adam Denney, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Denney; her beloved grandchildren, Cole, Andrew, Scarlett, and Olivia; and her brother, Tim Musgrave. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Loretta Musgrave.Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the beautiful memories, love, and example Lois leaves behind. Her kindness, faith, and devotion to others will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her. She will always be remembered for her talkative spirit, contagious laughter, and genuine interest in others. What mattered most to her was her family, her friends, and especially her grandchildren, whom she adored completely.A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 6th, 2026, at 11:00 am at Gold Creek Community Church in Mill Creek, Washington, with a celebration of life to follow.
