Lourdes Casimiro Gelido Barongan, age 88, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026. Lourdes, “Ludi” was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and best friend.
She was born on November 15, 1937, in Asingan, Pangasinan, in the Philippines. She began her extensive Nursing career there as a midwife, and after her immigration to the United States in 1966, she became a Surgical Registered Nurse and then worked as an operating room management lead until her retirement in 1998. Her life was marked by hard work and a deep commitment to family, traditions, and principles.
On March 7,1979, she was recognized by the United States Navy in appreciation for her unselfish, faithful and devoted service during her husband’s naval career. Her unfailing support and understanding helped to make possible her husband’s lasting contribution to the nation.
Lourdes is survived by her devoted husband and best friend of 60 years, Ceferino “Rey”, her adult children Arlene, Darlene, Mark, and John, and five grandchildren: Tiana, Samuel, Taylor, Parker and Greyson.
Lourdes will be greatly missed and she is forever in our hearts.
