Lucia M Concha

Lucia Melendez Concha, 88, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026.She was born on October 21, 1937, in El Paso, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents Pantaleon A. and Francesca Melendez and brother Pantaleon C. Melendez. She is survived by siblings Irene Guerra, Jose Melendez, and Maria Elena Fuentes-Kalman. She leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Eduardo Concha, five children: John Concha (Graciela), Isabel Concha, Jose Luis Concha (Yselda), Rebecca Zarlengo (Tom), and David Concha; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Lucia was a proud graduate of Jefferson High School class of 1956. She loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed dancing at reunions and tardeadas. She also enjoyed making homemade cakes for all her loved ones.Lucia, a devout Catholic, was very active in her parish of St Paul the Apostle Catholic church for over 50 years. She spent decades volunteering in various ministries including religious education, extraordinary minister of communion, and lector just to name a few. She also brought communion to the homebound and helped care for the needs of the infirmed priests in her parish. Lucia was a member and served as president of The Guadalupanas, a ministry devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe. She also assisted with the establishment of the Tepeyac Diocese Ministry Institute. Her faith was the center of her life and she found great joy in serving the Lord in his church, with her family and in her life of prayer and devotion.A viewing and visitation will be held on September 1, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 07:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home 1060 N. Carolina Dr, El Paso, TX 79915 (Rosary will begin at 7:00 PM). A Funeral Mass will be held on September 2, 2026, at 12:00 PM at St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 7424 Mimosa Avenue, El Paso, TX 79915. Burial at 1:30 PM at Ft Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906
