Lucy Harrison McMillian

Lucy Harrison McMillian was born April 19th 1938 in Rome, GA died June 26th 2026 at a local hospital.She was preceded in death by her parents; Ruth E. Harrison and James A. Harrison Sr., and her brother James A. Harrison Jr.She is survived by her husband of 63 years James Ruel McMillian MD. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Joan Harrison, her niece Beth MacClure, her nephew James A. Harrison III, and several nieces and nephews.Lucy was married to Ruel on November 1st of 1962.Lucy graduated from Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and served as an assistant college nurse at North Georgia College after graduation. She returned to Grady to teach nursing, where she met her future husband.Lucy traveled with Ruel during his Navy experience and lived in Oahu, HI, Portsmouth, VA, Orlando, FL, and also previously Savannah, Ga. Ruel and Lucy moved to Rome in 1970 where Ruel began his practice in pediatrics.Lucy served as president of the Floyd-Polk-Chatooga medical auxiliary. She also gave time to various charities and also taught yoga for several years at the Herb Shop on Broad Street where she met many new friends.Any donations can be made in Lucy’s honor to your favorite charity.Lucy will be missed by many friends, especially Alice Osborn.
