Luis Fernando Cepeda

Luis Fernando Cepeda, age 91, passed away on June 6, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas.

Born on June 20, 1934, in San Pedro de las Colonias, Coahuila, Mexico, to parents, Clementina Gonzalez and Jesus M. Cepeda.

In July 1956, Luis was granted a Visa for entry to the United States of America as a resident alien. A few months later while living and working in Chicago, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Desiring to pursue an administrative career, he entered the U.S. Air Force in January 1957. Luis served 30 years in the U.S. Air Force retiring in 1987.

After his retirement from the U.S. Air Force, Luis continued to work for the federal government via civil service jobs in San Antonio for another 14 years. During that time Luis pursued one of his lifelong goals, graduating from college, which he achieved by attaining his BA in accounting from Texas Lutheran College in 1992.

Luis loved life to its fullest by spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling and making new memories. Luis was an enthusiast in numismatics from an early age.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clementina and Jesus Cepeda; brothers Jesus, Julio, Fausto and Gabriel; sisters Dolores and Socorro. Luis is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Gloria; his sister Guadalupe Cepeda; his children, Fernando and his wife Brenda, Claudia and her husband Craig, and Oscar and his wife Patricia. "Abuelo" to 10 grandchildren; Melissa and her partner Daniel, Esteban, Andres, Olivia, Ian and his wife Mallory, Carolina, Fabiola and Francesca. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
