Lyle George Plum, 84, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, with his loved ones by his side.

Lyle was born on August 3, 1941, in Sioux City, Iowa, where he was raised. After graduating from high school, he proudly served in the United States Army as part of Army Security.

Following Lyle's military service, he made Phoenix, Arizona his home. He attended Arizona State University and earned a Master's degree in Secondary Education Industrial Arts.

On November 27, 1970, Lyle married the love of his life, Susan Mae Plum. The two met for the first time at an anti–Vietnam War peace rally at Arizona State University; thus beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, friendship, and shared values.

Lyle had a career in the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier for many years. He was known for his kind demeanor and exceptional work ethic.

Lyle had a lifelong passion for working with his hands. Whether he was tinkering in his workshop or working on vehicles, he found great joy in creating and fixing things. He worked on numerous hot rods alongside his brothers and cousins. Hot rods were truly one of his greatest passions. Lyle's innovative spirit led him to start his own business that was known as Phoenix Foam Cutter. He also enjoyed photography, and you could almost always catch Lyle with his camera in hand. His legacy of hard work, ingenuity, and craftsmanship will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Lyle is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Plum; his beloved daughters, Lisa (Bobby) Thompson, and Karen Hilda Plum; and his four cherished grandchildren, Cameron, Madalyn, Sarah, and Reese. He will be remembered for his kindness, wit and his love of family.
