Margaret Edith Collins, 82, of the Cedar Creek Community, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at Johnson City Medical Center.
Margaret was known by many as a strong, hardworking, humble, and kind woman who never hesitated to put others before herself. She dedicated much of her life to hard work and caring for those around her. She worked several years at Magnavox, owned and operated her own in-home beauty business, worked at Hurd Lock Corporation, and retired from Greene County Skills. She also spent many years as a lifetime dairy and tobacco farmer.
Margaret loved being outdoors and could often be found mowing the yard, tending to her greenhouse, planting flowers, or enjoying her woodworking. She found joy in staying busy and taking care of the things she loved.
Later in life, Margaret found a special calling through the Foster Care Program with Omni Visions. She opened her heart and home to many children, making a positive and lasting impact on their lives. She cherished the children in her care and maintained loving relationships with many of them throughout the years.
Margaret was a longtime member of Cedar Creek Church of God, as long as her health permitted. She was a deeply Godly woman whose strong faith carried her throughout her life. She was known for her humility, kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and others.
Above all, Margaret was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest treasure, and the love she gave them will continue to live on through the generations.
She is survived by her children: Jamie Lyons; Kelly (Tim) Tarlton; Jason (Holly) Collins; and Jill (Billy) Shelton.
Her grandchildren include Laura (Jon) Morgan, Brandy (Zac) Crawford, Holly (Matt) Ingle, Zak (Maisie) Holt, Hannah (Jake) Lawing, Jaelyn Collins (Braden Seaton), and Bryson (Katelynn) Collins, along with 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her love and memories in their hearts.
