Margaret Mary Meagher (née Skelly)

July 9, 2026 Montréal, Quebec Voluntas

Margaret Mary Meagher (née Skelly) passed away peacefully at the age of 95, after a brief illness, surrounded by family on July 9, 2026, in Montreal.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Edmund; her son, Kevin; her sister, Lucille (Jim Mahon); and her brother, Richard. She will be greatly missed by her daughter-in-law, Donna; her sons, Brian (Cindy), Gary (Sarah), and Richard (Danielle); her daughter, Catherine (Mark); her grandchildren, Steve (Kimberly), Daniel, Ian (Jessica), Laura (Stuart), Erin (Brendon), Christy, Lisa (Tim), Brendan (Alia), Thomas (Melanie), Michelle, Meghan, and Sean; and her great-grandchildren, Ally, Sami, Alice, Liam, Lucy, Jack, and Chloe.

Margaret lived life to the fullest, guided by the pillars of Faith, Friends, and Family.

Her faith was shaped by her early years at St. Mary’s Academy in Winnipeg. It was further strengthened through her support of and devotion to the Loyola High School Jesuit community for over 70 years alongside her husband, Ed. They truly exemplified Loyola’s motto of being Men and Women for Others. For the past 45 years, she also lived her faith as an active member of St. Edmund of Canterbury Parish in Beaconsfield.

Throughout her long and active life, Margaret was loved by her many friends, and she cherished those friendships in return. She found great happiness in following anything and everything in the world of sports, travelling, meaningful conversations, and sharing a glass (or two) of wine with the people she loved. A lifelong learner, she returned to university later in life to complete her degree in English and, in recent years, thoroughly enjoyed being a member of a writers’ group, where she shared her love of language and storytelling.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. Mom/Grandma Marg/Auntie Marg was strong and determined, yet humble, caring, and always supportive. She always gave more than she received. Her unconditional love for her family (and her beloved Habs!) shone through every day of her life. May her warmth, positive outlook, and gratitude for life’s many blessings live on in all who knew her.

The family extends its deepest appreciation to the remarkable and caring staff at St. Mary’s and Richardson hospitals.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Edmund of Canterbury Church, Beaconsfield, on Friday, July 17, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., prior to the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
