Margaret Tuminaro

August 8, 2026 Newport, Quebec Dignity Memorial

Margaret (Mardi) Tuminaro, age 83, of Red Hook, New York, passed away in Hudson, New York, on August 8, 2026. She was born in Buffalo, New York, to Fordyce Hartman and Cecelia Patricia Hennigan, on August 8, 1943. She was a graduate of Kenmore West High School (1961), Cornell University (B.S. 1965), and Teachers College at Columbia University (M.Ed.). She taught high school science and math in New York City public schools and retired after teaching for many years at Central Park East Secondary School in East Harlem.

Because she retired from a good union job that compensated her with an excellent pension and retiree healthcare, she was able to pursue her many hobbies and develop new talents during her retirement, including, in no particular order: sheepherding, playing traditional Irish music, making wine and maple syrup, brewing beer and kombucha, spinning and weaving wool, spending time with family and friends, and caring for her many animals.

She is survived by her husband, Dominick (Dom) Tuminaro, her daughter, Amelia Tuminaro-Berlin, her grandchildren, Matthew and Jonathan Berlin, her son-in-law Michael Berlin, her brothers Richard Hartman, James Hartman, and William Hartman, her sister Nancy Hartman, and nieces and nephews, Julie, Meredith, Morgan, Mac, Libby, Sarah, Leah, Lori, Craig, Sari, Jed, and Hale. She was pre-deceased by her son, Mark Tuminaro.

Memorial donations may be made to: Center for Constitutional Rights , the Parkinson's Foundation or the Irish Arts Center, three of many worthwhile organizations she supported during her life.
