Maria Silva De La Rosa passed away on June 2, 2026, at the age of 92.
Born on December 24, 1933, in Palau, Coahuila, Mexico, Maria later made her home in the United States, where she built a life centered on family, hard work, and love. She created a legacy that will continue for generations.
Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marcos Norberto De La Rosa; her parents; and her sister, Eva Montalvo.
She is survived by her brother, Ausberto “Beto” Silva; her children, Corina De La Rosa (San Angelo, Texas), Marcos De La Rosa (Stella Ortiz, San Angelo, Texas), Lupe De La Rosa (Shawna De La Rosa, Big Lake, Texas), and John De La Rosa (Mary De La Rosa, Big Lake, Texas).
She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Jordan De La Rosa (Traccy De La Rosa, Ozona, Texas), Bryce De La Rosa (Big Lake, Texas), Macy De La Rosa (Dallas, Texas), Ashlyn De La Rosa (Big Lake, Texas), and Emma De La Rosa (San Angelo, Texas).
Her legacy continues through her beloved great-grandchildren, Isaiah De La Rosa, JJ Hernandez, Baby Jessie Sanchez III, and Adley Sanchez.
To her family, Maria was simply Abuela. She was a caretaker by nature and the heart of her family. She loved dressing up, spending time at her flea market booth, and keeping close connections with those she loved. Nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
One of the traditions her family will cherish most was gathering every Christmas Eve to celebrate both Christmas and Abuela’s birthday. Year after year, the family came together to honor her, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
She will forever be remembered as Abuela—a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the foundation of her family.
