Marie Elizabeth Tamburo

Marie E. Tamburo - Born July 31.1932, in Battle Creek, Michigan to Alva and Marguerite Rounds, passed away at 93 years old on July 19, 2026 in Chandler, Arizona. Marie had an older sister, Marge Allen.

She is survived by her three children: Deborah Swinford, Tammy Lueck, and Rick Tamburo, her 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Her great loves in life were her family, her faith, and her friends. She was loved deeply and will be missed eternally.

Marie's many hats:DaughterSisterMotherGrandmother to 10Great grandmother to 17Great-great grandmother to 3And a Friend to manyMarie served on the All-City Board in Tempe, Arizona.She served on the PTA boards at her children's schools for many years.Marie was a leader for the Campfire Girls, the Girl Scouts, and the Cub Scouts for her children.She taught Sunday School for 10 years and started a Jr. Lutheran program for ages 1-6 for her church in Illinois.In addition, she served for 3 years on the Building Committee for the new church in Champaign, Illinois.Marie was very involved in the Sisterhood of the PEO Sorority, a philanthropic and educational organization originally founded as a college sorority. They worked to raise money for women's scholarships.Visitation will be held at Gethsemane Church, 1035 E Guadalupe Rd, Tempe, AZ 85283, on July 31, 2026, at 10:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at Gethsemane Church, 1035 E Guadalupe Rd, Tempe, Arizona 85283, on July 31, 2026, at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Mesa Cemetery, 1212 N Center St, Mesa, Arizona 85201, on July 31, 2026, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gethsemane Church Sunday School Program.
