It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Mario Martinez Acosta, who passed away at the age of 74 on May 13, 2026, at his home in Socorro, Texas.
Mario was born in McNary, Texas, and lived a life rooted in hard work, resilience, and deep love for his family. As a young man, he worked on a ranch and later at Featherlite. He went on to dedicate 22 years of service at the Levi’s factory and continued working in construction until retiring at the age of 54. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Natalia Martinez, and his brothers by blood and friendship, Manuel Martinez, Simon Acosta, and Rodolfo Gutierrez. He is also survived by his children: Mario Martinez Jr. and wife Gabby Martinez, Melissa Atilano and husband Hector Atilano, and Elizabeth Mena and husband Gilbert Mena. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Raelynn Vargas, Mya Martinez, Esteban Erives, Bella Mena, and Bryan Mena, and a cherished great-grandfather to Emma and Ava Vargas.
Mario is preceded in death by his parents, Anastacio and Paula Martinez, his brother Roberto Montes, and his sister Rosa Lerma.
Mario found joy in the simple things in life. He loved playing baseball, completing word searches, and listening to music by Los Frontera de Ciudad Juarez and Los Silvers. He was known for his kindness, his humor, and his ability to make others smile. With a golden heart, he was always willing to help others and was deeply devoted to his family.
Above all, Mario’s greatest pride was his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend whose presence brought strength, laughter, and love to those around him.
He will be dearly missed, and his legacy will live on forever through all those who were blessed to know him.
