Martha Mae Traxler, 94, of Columbia, MO passed away peacefully Friday, August 14, 2026.
Martha was born May 11, 1932, in McBaine, MO to Charles and Mary Taylor. She was raised on her family’s farm in Rocheport, MO where she was the second of six children. At the age of 21, she married the love of her life, Carl Traxler. Together, they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. Martha worked as a secretary for Shelter Insurance where she retired after 42 years of dedicated service.
Martha was a member of the Sunrise Optimist, the Red Hat Society, and The 25th ladies group. She enjoyed coffee, sunshine, playing golf, and collecting glassware. She had a set of dishes for every occasion. Her greatest passion, however, was for her family. She poured her love into her homemade Sunday lunches and treasured every opportunity to have her family gathered around her.
Martha will be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family, her selflessness, and her generosity. Her kindness and loving spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her, and her memory will live on through the family she cherished so deeply.
Martha is survived by her beloved son, Larry Traxler and his wife, Polly of Columbia, MO; her treasured granddaughters: Kimberly Mabrey and her husband, Greg and Kacey Richardson and her husband, Rusty both of Columbia, MO; and four greatly adored great-grandchildren: Katelyn Mabrey, Ryan Richarson, Tate Richardson, and Carly Richarson. She also is survived by two brothers: Albert Taylor of Rocheport, MO and Warren Taylor of Columbia, MO as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was proceeded in death by her cherished husband Carl, her parents, and three of her siblings: Inez Hickam, Barbara Sontag, and Charles Taylor, Jr.
