Mary Katherine Ussery, 83, of Kansas City, Missouri, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 29, 2026.
She was born on April 26, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, to her parents, Eleanor and Walter Fox. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, David Fox and Walter Fox, and her first husband, Charles E. Slater. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Ussery, her daughters, Wanda Swartz (Stephen) and Gretta Anderson (Jeffery), son, Andy James Ussery (Melissa), grandchildren, Christina Arbuckle (Mike), Shannon Anderson, and Daniel Anderson, Matthew Swartz (Ashley), Thomas Swartz (Jess), and great-grandchildren, Ethan Baker-Arbuckle, and George Logan Arbuckle.
Mary enjoyed various hobbies such as crafting, sewing, baking, fishing, and camping. She had a very caring and caregiving nature. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed travelling and exploring with Jerry. Mary was a woman of great faith and placed her trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as a young woman, and faithfully served Him throughout her life. Her heart’s desire was that her children and grandchildren would also come to faith in Jesus Christ.
Mary was a light in this world that warmed the hearts of all she touched.
