Mary Louise (Ascione) Carrier, 82, of Southington, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, at MidState Medical Center in Meriden after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Paul Carrier.
Mary was born on September 13, 1943, in Waterbury, Connecticut, daughter of the late Andrew and Louise (Landolfi) Ascione. Raised in Waterbury, she attended local schools and from an early age showed a natural gift for caring for others, a quality that would define her.
She met the love of her life, Paul, and they were married in 1966, building a life together rooted in love, faith, and family in Southington. Mary was a devoted parishioner of St. Aloysius Church for many years, where her faith remained a guiding force throughout her life.
Mary worked as a hairdresser for many years before retiring from Lake Eyelet Manufacturing Company in Southington, which closed in 2005. Above all, she was the heart and matriarch of her family. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, who brought endless happiness to her life.
She enjoyed playing games on her iPad, card games—especially setback—chatting on the phone with friends and family, and watching detective series on television. Mary was also an exceptional cook, known especially for her Italian dishes. Her sauce and meatballs were cherished family favorites that will remain unmatched.
In addition to her devoted husband Paul, Mary is survived by her loving children: Paula Mozzicato and her husband Robert, and Joseph Carrier and his wife Christine Peterson. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Bobby Mozzicato and his wife Sylver, Nicholas Mozzicato and his wife Kaelene, and Payton and Jordan Carrier; as well as her treasured great-granddaughter, Leora Jean Mozzicato.
She is also survived by her brother Andrew Ascione and his wife Barbara; her sisters Bernadette Bender and her husband Carl, and Carmeline Fennelly and her husband Raymond; along with many extended family members and dear friends.
