Maureen R. Flanagan

Maureen Rae (Gormley) Flanagan, of Westwood, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the age of 87, surrounded by her beloved family.Maureen grew up in Pawtucket and was the daughter of the late William E. Gormley and Rachel (Partridge) Gormley. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, and completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at Providence College. Maureen had a lifelong love of travel and live music, especially when her grandchildren were performing. She enjoyed creating a warm and inviting home and loved Cape Cod where she was surrounded by family. She was always first in line at her grandchildren’s events and rarely missed a game, play or dance recital.Maureen is survived by her husband of 65 years, James F. Flanagan of Westwood; her children, Mary-Jo F. Hannigan and her husband Bill of Westwood, David J. Flanagan and his wife Barbara of Hope Valley, RI, Lizbeth R. Anderson and her husband Eric of North Attleboro, and Michael P. Flanagan and his wife Jennifer of Nantucket; her grandchildren, Matthew J. Hannigan and his wife Sigourney, Kathryn M. Harrington and her husband Timothy, Brendan D. Flanagan and his wife Kristen, Maura O. Russell and her husband Cameron, Patrick J. Flanagan and his wife Abby, Aidan W. Flanagan, Emma R. Anderson, Alexander J. Anderson, Henry J. Flanagan and MacKenzie F. Flanagan; her great-grandchildren, Ella Jo Harrington, Rory Rae Hannigan, and Owen Brendan Flanagan; and her sister, Virginia Albright of Durango, CO. She is predeceased by her sister, Joan Darcey of Cumberland, RI.A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Timothy Catholic Church, 650 Nichols St., Norwood on Monday, August 17, 2026, 9 am. Interment will be held privately at the request of the family.In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Maureen’s memory to A Baby Center at Cape Cod Council of Churches, Hyannis, MA.Arrangements are in the care of Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rt. 1A) Norwood.
