Melanie M. Sears

Melanie M. Sears, 73, of Ogdensburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public services.

Melanie was born in Ogdensburg, the daughter of the late Joseph and Jacqueline (LaRoux) Sears. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and continued her education at SUNY Brockport, where she earned a dual Bachelor’s degree in chemistry & biology in 1975.

During her career, Melanie worked as a senior laboratory technician at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, where she received several accolades in recognition of the quality of her work.

Melanie was very involved in supporting Cub Scouts and served as a Cub Scout leader. In her spare time, she enjoyed baking and, most of all, spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Storm Sears of Buffalo, NY; her brother, Joseph (Gail) Sears of Hudson, FL; and three sisters, Cynthia (Ronald) Miller of Syracuse, Lori Ezell of Hudson, FL, and Teresa (Michael) Scanlon of Poughkeepsie. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
