Michael Lynn Kent

August 11, 2026 Weedon, Quebec Dignity Memorial

Michael Lynn Kent, 73, of Weston, Florida, passed away on August 11th after recently being diagnosed with cancer.

Mike was born on November 9, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan. Independent from a young age, he was always setting off on adventures biking through the suburbs of Detroit with his brothers, Morris and Terry. It was a fitting beginning for a life spent in motion.

That adventurous spirit led him to the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country for thirteen years, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander. As a transport pilot, stationed in Meridian, Mississippi, he met the love of his life, Brianna, and their friendship blossomed into a lifelong, loving relationship. The discipline, leadership, and devotion to duty he carried from his years in uniform as well as his love of Brianna shaped everything that followed.

After the Navy, Mike went on to a long and distinguished career with American Airlines, retiring as a Captain. He took great pride in bringing his passengers and crew home safely, flight after flight, but loved nothing more than coming home and being a full time dad and husband.

In 1994, Mike and his family made their home in Weston, Florida.

An accomplished amateur photographer, he was rarely without a camera in hand and loved photographing his travels, his family, and the natural world around him. And he never met a stranger that he couldn’t turn into a friend. Michael had friends in every restaurant and Starbucks in Weston, where a quick cup of coffee had a way of turning into a long conversation.

Above all, Mike treasured his family. He is survived by his brother Morris, his beloved wife of 37 years Brianna, and his daughters, Erin and Brennan. He was preceded in death by his brother Terry.
