After a courageous 25-year battle with brain cancer, the family is saddened to announce that Michael F. Summerville went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 22, 2026.Michael devoted more than 30 years of service to the United States Postal Service, faithfully serving the Baton Rouge, Amite, and Roseland communities before retiring. He had a true gift for gardening, and his green thumb brought beauty and life to everything he touched.He shared over 47 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Cindy St. Pierre Summerville. Michael’s greatest pride and joy were his daughters, Angela (Trip) and Karen (John Jr) Guerin. The light of his later years was his only grandson, Gabriel Michael “GB,” who brought him endless joy, love, and inspiration. His devoted caretaker, Carolyn Gradney, who provided unwavering love and support throughout his long illness.He is also survived by his mother, Lovelia Price Summerville; his brothers, Ernest Jr. (Lisa) and Thomas (Julie); along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.Michael was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Summerville Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Roswell and Ruth Somerville; and his maternal grandparents, Foster and Molly Price.The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Pinnacle Hospice for their care and support, especially Michael’s nurses, Farrel Fabre and Lauren Cranford, as well as his social worker, Amanda, all of whom he adored.Services will be held at Green Oaks on Thursday, May 28, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with funeral services to follow at 12:00 p.m
