Mildred Goldman-Eisner

September 27, 2026 Dignity Memorial

Mitzie Goldman-Eisner, a devoted mother, beloved teacher, and lover of beauty in all its forms, passed away on September 27, 2026, at the age of 97. She was surrounded by her loving family and caregivers.

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Mitzie studied at St. Louis Teacher's College before meeting and marrying Michael "Mike" Goldman, a native of Manhattan. Together they built a life that took them from St. Louis to Boston, Massachusetts, and eventually to Saratoga County, New York, following Mike's career. Along the way they welcomed their two daughters, Leslie and Karen.

In Saratoga County, Mitzie began a teaching career that would define much of her life. For 30 years she taught first and second graders in the Shenendehowa Central School District, shaping generations of young learners.

Mitzie enjoyed the finer things in life and always carried herself with beautiful New York City style. She and her family loved travel, painting, theatre, dance, and the arts. Mike, a natural musician, played piano, trumpet, and drums alongside his neighbors, and the Goldmans delighted in entertaining family and friends. Through years of hard work and treasured vacations in Cape Cod, Manhattan, and Miami, Florida, Mitzie, Mike, and the girls made lifelong friendships and countless beautiful memories.

In 1977, Mike was diagnosed with cancer. Mitzie and Karen, then 14, cared for him through remission and until his passing in 1979, at the age of 48. After Leslie left for college, Mitzie and her younger daughter set about rebuilding their lives. Mitzie kept teaching while proudly guiding Karen through high school, college, and graduate school. Though they struggled with their grief together, Mitzie never stopped encouraging Karen's education, all while lovingly tending to her "Wild Child," as she nicknamed her.

Mitzie was proud and thrilled when Karen opened her own private psychology practice, and she was delighted when Karen met Matthew Kiefer. Matthew quickly became Mitzie's favorite son-in-law, known simply as "her Matthew."

Mitzie spent her later years in Niskayuna, New York, at Glen Eddy Independent Living. At the age of 96, she moved to Staten Island, New York, to live with Karen and Matthew. There she lived out her days happily sipping tea, painting with her watercolors, and laughing with her nurturing family, nurses, and home health aides.

Mitzie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael Goldman. She is survived by her daughters, Leslie and Karen; son-in-law Kiefer (Matthew); and grandchildren Ethan and Abigail.
