Misty Sabrina Krueger, age 49, died on July 29, 2026, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. Misty was born in San Antonio, TX, to parents Ernie and Kay Krueger. She grew up on a farm in Devine, TX, with her parents and younger sister, Lacy Krueger.

Misty was a proud first-generation college student. She was a college professor at the University of Maine-Farmington (UMF), where she encouraged students to pursue their dreams. Misty earned her bachelor’s from UT-San Antonio, her master’s at Texas A&M, and her doctorate in English at the University of Tennessee.

Throughout her career, Misty was a dedicated educator and scholar, especially known for her work on Jane Austen. She spent time in England researching Austen and published numerous articles. Misty was also a passionate traveler, art lover, and supporter of social justice causes.

She adored her nieces and nephews, taking them on memorable trips despite her declining health. Misty was also a cat mom to Rainbow Dash and Kitten Nuggett, whom she loved dearly.

Misty's kindness, style, and love for life touched everyone she knew. She was always ready to give compliments, support charitable causes, and spread positivity. She believed in making the world a better place and left an indelible mark on all who met her.
