Neil Henry Olson

Neil Henry Olson, 78, died on May 4, 2026. Born October 23, 1947, Neil lived in Surrey, British Columbia.

Neil will be remembered for a gentle presence and a kind-hearted way of moving through the world—thoughtful in his words, generous in his care, and steady in the quiet ways that mattered most.

Neil’s family included siblings Rowena Lewis (older sister) and Richard (Rick) Olson (older brother), and daughter Nicole Olson. He was also an uncle to Shawn Olson (nephew) and Nathan Olson (nephew). Neil’s parents, Edna Joan Olson and Donald Raymond Olson, are both deceased.

Neil and Merlyn were married on 12-13-14—“my lucky number”—and had been together since 2001. In their time together, Neil’s attentiveness and generosity showed through in the life they shared: walking around Burns Bog Delta and Mud Bay Park, hiking, and taking long drives simply for the pleasure of the road. They also loved to cruise, and to listen to oldies—especially Elvis Presley and The Beatles—with favourite songs including “Hero” by Enrique Iglesias. Neil spoiled Merlyn and pampered her, offering care that was constant and considerate.

A visitation will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, Fraser Heights Chapel, 14835 Fraser Highway, Surrey, BC, V3R3N6, Canada, on May 15, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
